Branding Tips For Holistic Health Practitioners

Do a brainstorm based on other people’s branding

If you’re new to the idea of branding, this is a great spot to start. Take a look at some other people’s social media, website and anywhere else that you can see their branding.

Take notes about:

  • What you like about different branding - the colours, logos, fonts, images and overall feel

  • What you don’t like

  • Any other inspiration that it might give you

This can help you to get clear on what type of branding you might like for your own business. If you are working with a professional to design your branding, it can help to guide you both towards the best fit branding for you.

Get clear on what makes you unique

What makes you stand out from the crowd? This is different for every practitioner, because we’re all unique in our own way! But whatever it is, we want to incorporate into your branding.

For example, look at these words and see which you identify with:

  • Feminine

  • Hippie

  • Professional

  • Down to earth

  • Vibrant

  • Calm

  • Playful

  • Edgy

  • Rebel

Each of these feelings or concepts can be incorporated into your colour scheme, fonts, images and content.

This could also be something more tangible such as a love of a particular colour or pattern. If you love polka dots and wear them in your photoshoot, we want to ensure that continues across your branding!

Share your story

Who you are and the journey you have taken is a crucial part of you. So it makes sense that it’s also a key piece of your branding.

People connect with human experiences and stories. By sharing parts of your story, you help people to feel more connected with you. It can also be a be part of your brand story – what you tell people when you are being interviewed or asked about your business.

For example, what do you think people are more likely to resonate with?

  • A practitioner who works with kids with autism OR a practitioner who has an autistic son and shares strategies that help manage his moods?

  • A naturopath who works with autoimmune disease OR a naturopath with lupus who shares her tips about managing flares and thriving with autoimmune disease?

Share your journey. Be vulnerable and human. Your followers will feel more connected with you and will be more likely to work with you!

Have a mood board for your branding

One of my top tips for keeping your branding on track? Create a mood board on Pinterest of the colours, image styles and fonts that you feel represent your business. This is handy for any prac, but it’s particularly useful if you’re a visual person.

If you’ve already had your branding designed by a professional, you can start with the elements that make up your brand and add images and quotes for further inspiration. But if your brand is a work in progress or you’re considering a rebrand, you can also add colours, fonts, patterns and other ideas.

Prefer something that is tech-free? You can also create a physical mood board by printing off images and adding them to a corkboard.

Whenever you go to create something for your business, take a look at your mood board first. That way, you know what your content should look, feel and sound like.

Work with a professional

If you’re not a natural when it comes to branding and visuals, you don’t need to settle for a DIY job that you don’t love!

Working with a professional ensures that your brand conveys what you want to the clients that you want to attract. A great designer will provide you with everything you need to create a consistent and professional brand, including:

  • A primary logo

  • A submark (simplified logo)

  • An icon

  • A Favicon (the icon that pops up for your website)

  • Business card design

  • A profile picture for your social media

  • A Facebook banner

  • Mood board (so you can always review your branding!)
