Is It Time To Revamp Your Brand? Here’s How To Tell

At some point, every practitioner will look at their brand and online presence and wonder if it’s still relevant. When we first start off, how we show up reflects our journey as a new practitioner. But when you hit a certain level of success, you might feel like it no longer reflects who you are or who you want to be.

The most successful brands will revamp their brand from time to time. This ensures that how they show up can adapt based on their messaging, their audience and the world in general.

The same goes for the practitioners who go on to build amazing business empires. That practitioner with thousands of followers online, a range of courses and their own product line? I can tell you that they are not rocking the same branding, website and social media that they kicked off with!

So if you’re wondering whether it’s time to revamp your business and how you show up in the world, let’s take a closer look.

Tell-tale signs it’s time to revamp your brand

Have you been wondering if your website is a little stale, or if your branding needs a refresh?

Here are some of the signs that your online presence could use a revamp:

  • Your business is booming - but you're still using the dodgy DIY website or Canva logo from when you first opened

  • Even though you've built a reputation as an amazing practitioner with your clients, your online platforms don't reflect that knowledge, skill and trust

  • You've used PR and media coverage to boost your client base and attract your ideal clients, but feel icky because your website is vague and doesn't showcase your niche

  • You're expanding into passive and leveraged income sources - think programs, courses, e-books, products and affiliates

  • Looking at your website, socials and/or branding makes you feel meh. It's stale, and you want something that is more you!

  • You’re still reusing and rehashing professional photos that are years old and don’t incorporate your brand colours, despite the fact that you’ve overhauled your personal looks (hair, style and/or energy) since then!

  • Your website and social media promote two different offerings to two different audiences - and it's high time you split your online presence so you can nail your marketing!

Now if any of these are the case, it doesn’t mean you need to stop marketing and booking clients until you upgrade everything! But for you to reach that next level of your business and your goals, you’ll want your brand to reflect your upgraded business and self.

How to take your business presence to the next level

Ticking some of the above boxes? Not sure how to revamp how you show for the public?

Here are some ways you can refresh your brand.

Revamp your branding

A cornerstone of your business is your branding. The right branding will reflect your messaging and attract your ideal clients. It will make you more recognisable – and when people recognise us, it’s easier for them to trust us and work with us!

To revamp your branding, consider these steps:

Update your logo

If you’re still using a Canva or Fivver logo, you’re not doing your branding any favours. In fact, in some cases, you may have been given a logo that is an infringement of someone else’s copyright!

It’s time for a professional logo that conveys everything that you stand for as a practitioner.

Get a new branding photoshoot

If it’s been more than 12-18 months since your last photoshoot, it’s time for an update. We are constantly evolving and changing, and that’s a good thing! Recent images can showcase this and boost up that trust factor with your followers.

If you’re still relying on your iPhone selfies, stop playing small. Your business deserves a photoshoot with a professional who understands how to convey you and your business visually!

Do a full brand refresh

It’s common for new practitioners to start off with a brand that isn’t cohesive or that is what they think it should be. For example, many practitioners start off with green as their main brand colour – even if it’s something they don’t resonate with!

A full brand refresh will help you to bring the elements of your branding together and make sure they say what you want to tell the world.

Revamp your website

Your website is your own little corner of the internet. It’s the one place where you can showcase everything that you have to offer as a practitioner.

To ensure you’re bringing in the clients who want, you want to keep your website up to date.

Update your website branding

Got new or updated branding? Or maybe your website has been sitting there untouched for years, so the branding is completely out of date?

Go through your website, and make sure that it is consistent across:

  • Font

  • Brand colours

  • Images (of you and general stock images)

  • Other content such as videos

Refresh your website images

Whenever you get new images taken, your website images should be updated as well!

Even if you haven’t had new photos taken, it’s worth looking through and ensuring your stock images are still cohesive. Do they reflect your branding and your ideal clients? If not, give them a refresh.

PS - The name and alt text of your images contribute to your SEO as well. So whenever you’re doing an SEO update, don’t neglect your images!

Refresh your content

One of the first aspects of a website that goes out of date is your content. Your written copy needs to be tailored to attract your ideal clients and deter those who might waste your time or not be a good fit for you.

This goes for your main pages, but also your blog posts. Are all of your call to actions up to date? Or are there blogs from a year or two ago that direct people to a service you no longer offer, or attract clients you no longer work with? If so, it’s time to tweak or even remove them.

Review your freebies and opt-ins

Many practitioners have one or more freebies and opt-ins linked to their website. This might be an e-book, an email series, a sample meal plan or a checklist for people to download.

No matter what form your opt-in takes, it needs to be refreshed and updated as your branding is refreshed. This ensures that your freebie reflects your brand just like any other aspect of your business.

You also want to make sure that remains consistent with your core messaging and your ideal clients. After all, there’s no point in having an e-book about nutrition for running a marathon if you’re focused on working with pre and post-natal clients!

Do a full website overhaul

If all of the above is feeling stale and not consistent with your big goals – it’s time for a full overhaul. This can include:

  • Changing your website platform (my personal fave is Squarespace)

  • Updating your branding

  • Refreshing your images

  • Rewriting your content

  • Tweaking any freebies or opt-ins you have

  • Optimising your SEO

Revamp your social media channels

Social media is where many people will come across your business. Even if it’s not your core marketing strategy, every one of your social media channels needs to stay up to date in terms of your brand and messaging.

Luckily, revamping your social media can be easy!

Archive posts that don’t reflect your messaging and niche

Remember the good old days where you shared blogs from random American websites?

Or that time where you talked about detoxing and weight loss for 3 months straight because you thought it would bring you clients, but now your whole brand is about intuitive eating and not demonising foods?

Over time, you learn and grow, and you can see where your younger self wasn’t 100% accurate or deceived by someone else’s claims. Sometimes, it can also be that your old images and posts weren’t a match for your branding.

It’s ok to update your socials to reflect who you are as a practitioner right now.

The good news is that you can archive or hide posts that aren’t true to you or your brand. For Facebook pages, you can delete the posts. On Instagram, you can archive them so they no longer show up in your Instagram grid.

Update your profile and cover photos

Still using the same profile picture on your social media platforms that you’ve used for 2, 3 or even 5 years? Got a cover photo on Facebook that just sits there and doesn’t serve a purpose other than filling in a gap?

Your profile pictures and cover photo are prime real estate on your social media channels. Make sure they work for you, not against you!

Once you’ve got some updated brand photos, pick your favourite as your profile picture. The best image to use for a profile picture is one that shows your face, where you are looking directly at the camera.

Create a cover photo that draws attention to your call-to-action button. For example, you might add in text that says ‘click below to book!’ or ‘sign up for your free copy of ’.

It can be useful to get a cover photo template created with your branding, so you can easily edit it depending on what you’re promoting at the time.

Infuse your branding into your social media posts

When you look at your social media, can you see your branding peeking through with every post?

If you have gorgeous branding (which I hope you do by now!), your social media needs to include that.

Using consistent social media images that include your logo, brand colours, fonts and/or photos can go a long way in building your brand.

You’ll also want to pick stock images that are similar in style to your brand images. For example, you don’t want to use gloomy or black and white images if your brand images are all about a pop of colour and plenty of sunshine!
