6 Ways You Can Use Tech To Boost Your Business

Are you reluctant to embrace the power of tech in your business? A lot of pracs tell me that their tech knowledge is low or even non-existent. But the good news is that even simple tech options can help to boost your business up and bring more clients into your clinic.

Let’s dive into 6 ways that you can use tech to give your business a helping hand.

Set up your own corner of the internet

One of my favourite ways to use tech is to set up your own space on the web – aka your own website. A website is a way for you to tell people who you are, what you offer and how to work with you.

You can use a website to:

  • Share resources and education with your ideal clients

  • Direct people to your booking system

  • Share a sign-up to your mailing list or free download

  • Sell online and retail products such as e-books, meal plans and water filters

  • Run online memberships and store member-only content

Setting up a website is often costly, especially if you require options such as an online shop. But if you want a website that is simple, easy to use and still looks professional, I’ve got an option for you. Check out my one-page website package here.

Accept bookings in your sleep

Can clients book in their next appointment with you while you’re sleeping? Or when you’re enjoying a family dinner? Maybe even sneaking out for a cheeky massage?

If the answer is no, it’s time to get yourself a booking system!

Most booking systems are simple to use. You can easily block off times with the click of a button or two. You can set a maximum amount of appointments. With a little help, you can even have the booking system embedded into your booking page of your website.

If you want to work online with clients, a booking system is even more useful. A good booking system will allow you to take payments online, and may even have an in-built timezone converter. That means no more messing up appointment times with an interstate client!

Pricing can differ depending on what you need. But many options such as Acuity, Cliniko, Simple Clinic and Practice Better offer tiered options - some are even free to use! So there’s no excuse for not having a booking system set up.

Remember: the easier it is for people to book in with you, the more likely that they will book in with you!

See clients from across the world

Gone are the days where you’re limited to the local population. Modern tech options allow us to see clients ‘face to face’ anywhere that has a decent internet connection.

You can be working from rural Queensland, the mining towns of Western Australia or the Blue Mountains of NSW – and still see hundreds of clients. In fact, you can continue to see clients while you travel the world if that is what tickles your fancy!

The two most popular options for seeing clients online are Skype and Zoom. Some booking systems have their own in-built systems for seeing clients remotely. Make sure you check your association and insurance requirements before picking one that suits your needs.

Build a mailing list of ideal clients

Although tools such as social media are helpful to support your business and marketing, it should never be the only way. You could lose your Facebook page or Instagram profile tomorrow – with no way to reach your followers again!

That’s why I think that building a mailing list with your followers is the smartest option.

A mailing list is simply a list of people who have given you permission to email them directly. There are plenty of tech-phobe friendly options for this, including Mailerlite and Mailchimp.

The best way to build a mailing list up? Offer them something for signing up with you! Freebies such as e-books can be a great way to tempt people onto your list, and make sure that the people who sign up are your ideal people.

Make the most of free scheduling tools

Can’t get consistent with your social media content? Scheduling is your new best friend.

Scheduling content in advance means that you can put together a big batch of content in a single session. Then all you need to do is schedule it and let it roll out while you focus on more important tasks!

When it comes to Facebook, the in-built scheduler can be handy for both Facebook page content and content for your own Facebook group. I use it to schedule content for my page and for the Tech For Pracs Facebook group! That way, there are always handy tips, useful blogs and awesome offers going out to my community.

Instagram doesn’t have the same level of scheduling built into the app. But you can use apps for free to schedule a certain number of posts per month. For example, you can schedule up to 30 posts per calendar month using Later.

Use Canva to make your branding and marketing a breeze

Ever envied those on-brand images that pop up on another prac’s social media every single day? There’s a good chance that they are using templates on Canva that are tailored to their business branding.

The good news? Creating beautiful social media images shouldn’t be time-consuming and frustrating. You have better things to do than sitting in Canva or Photoshop trying to figure out how to make an image that looks good AND is consistent with your branding!

A great branded template will have your business colours and logo ready to go. All you need to do is pop in any writing or image that you need, download and schedule it in!

Sounds like what you need? I’ve got you covered. Grab your social media templates here.
